For these 2 shots, the Director wanted the main characters drawings to come to life as a background element. This shot was tricky because it required 15 unique characters to be animated for about 30 seconds each (almost 4 min of animation) in 2 weeks. To get all of the character designs I visited a local elementary school and, with the art teacher’s and parent’s permission, scanned in some student work. After breaking the drawings up into 2D rigs in After Effects animation seemed to go pretty quickly.
