The New York Mets

Posted in Technical Direction, VFX on September 13th, 2012 by Ryan

So here is what I have been working on for the past year!

We did 3 short videos for the NY METS that play in there stadium in NY and here.

For these projects I was primarily responsible for texturing and look development. But I did spend a lot of time doing lighting, stereo rendering, and procedural animation for the opening sequences of HUD and BALL containing NYCity and the NYCity of the future…

This project was really challenging and I became very familiar and comfortable in Python and VRay to accomplish my part.

Digital Domain… “End of line man, end of line.”

We’ll that didn’t work out… Haha

Unfortunately this Fall our CEO announced that he was stepping down, the company was filing for bankruptcy, and that our brand new Florida facility was being closed. They locked all our machines down and we had a few hours to box up our stuff. Kind of a bummer.

But, it was fun while it lasted. I’m proud to have been a part of the team they assembled down there. I made some really great friends and really grew a lot as an artist. If I had the chance, I would do it all over again.

Here is some matte-painting work that I did for the movie “Rock of Ages”. We had to create a set extension for this street, this was my first time doing matte-painting. I learned a lot.

SCAD Sand Arts Festival 2011!

Posted in Personal on May 10th, 2011 by Ryan

This last weekend Sharyn and I went back to Savannah to hang out with some friends and compete in the Sand Arts Festival with Jeff & Jill Masters and Brandon Loving. Here are some pictures of the Sarcophagus that we made!

The festival was a lot of fun and everybody made some pretty amazing stuff. You can check out more sand sculptures here at the SCAD Sand Arts 2011 Facebook Album.

We worked hard enough that we ended up placing 1st in our Sand Relief category and scored $500 bucks! How sweet is that?!
